About Me

I’m a climate and environment reporter at KTOO Public Media in Juneau, Alaska. You can see my most recent work here. My work has also appeared in Nature, Science, High Country News, Alaska Public Media, KQED, Lookout Santa Cruz, The Mercury News, KBOO, Eos and Mongabay.

As a science journalist, I aim to shed light on environmental issues and solutions. I have an M.S. in science communication from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a B.A. in environmental studies with a concentration in international environmental law from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. My journey began at a high school newspaper in Illinois, where I started as a writer and was elected editor-in-chief my senior year. I continued on this path in college at the independent student paper, The Pioneer Log (now The Mossy Log), where I was the news editor and business manager. After graduating, I volunteered to cover protests and environmental news for KBOO Community Radio. I spent five years working in institutional and environmental nonprofit communications before transitioning into journalism full-time.
